AUS proudly celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of two 12th grade students, Hanan Alburaikan and Paula Colina, for their exceptional achievements through the Global Online Academy (GOA). Their dedication and success highlight AUS’s commitment to providing students with transformative global learning experiences.

Hanan Alburaikan’s GOA Capstone Project, ‘Beyond Protocol: Analyzing the Causes of Medical Errors and Its Lethal Impact’, has been selected for the prestigious Global Capstone Showcase. Of more than 1,300 student projects submitted across various GOA courses, only 54 were chosen for the public showcase, a testament to the depth, impact and quality of her work. Hanan’s project delves into the critical issue of medical errors, shedding light on their causes and the devastating consequences they can have.

Another exceptional senior, Paula Colina, has made AUS history as the first student to earn the Global Learning Certification through GOA. This impressive feat recognizes her dedication and successful completion of three diverse GOA courses, demonstrating exceptional global learning skills such as real-world problem-solving, empathy, communication and collaboration.
Earning this certification signifies a deep engagement with interdisciplinary learning, showcasing Paula’s ability to navigate complex topics across different fields of study. Her achievement reflects not only academic excellence but also her commitment to lifelong learning and global citizenship, core values at AUS.
GOA is a network of top independent schools worldwide that offers students opportunities to take innovative and specialized courses that go beyond traditional classroom subjects. Through AUS’s partnership with GOA, students can explore unique academic tracks, delve into passion-driven topics, and engage in a global learning community.
